A Day in the Life on 4938 Fairfield Circle

As posted on our Greenway Gardens neighborhood watch message board this morning:

This may sound a bit strange, but my husband Tom left for work at about 6am this morning, and saw a large (duck-sized) bird with long tail feathers on our roof. Has anyone else seen this bird, or is anyone missing a pet peacock?

We are hoping to solve this mystery,

The replies:

--I saw it as well and last night about 5 45 there was a bird catcher looking for it. I don't know how to contact him

--I also saw it at around 7 am this morning and took a picture of it! I will try to post it. How odd! Does anyone know what it is?

--Was it carrying a large blow up lawn tiger? ;)

--LOL No, it was just hanging out solo....I did post a picture too. Sorry the file is so large!

I also emailed a note to the Memphis contingent of the FFT:

This bird is loose in my neighborhood!!!!!
Is it a pheasant?

The replies:

Artee: did you take that photo? make sure little joey is safe.

Pam: I don't know what kind it is but it's pretty.

Thomas: Wow. That's an exotic pheasant. I'd call the zoo.

Sarah Cate: Maybe you could call the news. Get some Team 3 Coverage on this.

Kevin Schwarz: I recommend stuffing with lemons and onions, rubbing the skin with olive oil and lots of salt and pepper. Roast at 450F for 25 min then turn heat down for an additional 1 hour roasting time. Serve with mashed potatoes and oven roasted brussel sprouts. Yum!!!

Brent: Can you eat it?

I just couldn't let something this bizarre go by without immortalizing it in a blog post.
